What are the odds?

So I got the same ‘fortune’ twice in a row today.

Now I don’t believe in fortunes or anything of the sort, but what are the odds that I would get the same fortune in both my fortune cookies?

The fortune was:

Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judegment.

Go Go Active Man!

I’ve taken 452 steps since I put on my new McDonalds brand Stepometer(tm) (aka Pedometer) this morning.

It came in my Go Active! Happy Meal last night.

I got the crispy (deep fried) chicken on my salad, and upgraded to a Coke just for the sheer irony of it.

My salad came in a giant box that I promptly tossed in the trash recycling.

So many mixed messages, but at least they are trying ;-)

Surreality

Powered by audblogaudio post powered by audblog

Transcript:

Do you ever have this feeling where you’re not sure if you’re awake or still dreaming? Yeah, that’s kind of how it feels right now. Everything seems to surreal. Last night after this crazy thunderstorm with a tornado touchdown in Maple Grove, everything, the whole world around me, was tinted green like the Matrix. And uh, I mean just yesterday my pastor got in a car crash and… uh… it was just crazy wierd like it didn’t seem real… but apparently it is ’cause it’s happening and I’m living it. So… odd. Hopefully reality comes back ’cause this whole surreal thing is getting really weird. Signing off of my first audblog post…

War. What is it good for?

Kind of look slike a video game — In a really, really disturbing and evil kinda way. The lack of emotion in the voices is particualry scary- they are disintegrating human beings with those cannon blasts… and it’s nothing out of the ordinary. I realize our soldiers would be pretty ineffective if everyone they killed brought them to their knees crying and weeping, but this just doesn’t seem right…

The shocking video

In favor of a smoking ban

To: Mayor R.T. Rybak
From: Nick Ciske

Subject: In favor of a smoking ban

City wide or state wide… whatever can be done!

After watching my father fight his addiction for most of his life (he’s now quit) and my Grandmother lose her life to hers, I cannot fathom why this issue is even being discussed. It’s not an issue of “choice” – if I want to see a band coming through town, they are never playing in a non-smoking bar, so I have to risk my health and end up stinking to high heaven just to enjoy some music. If I want to go out with friends and eat good food, I can choose from one of the few and far between ‘non-smoking bars’ or risk my health to get good food.

If any restaurant had ‘toxic fumes’ that were making patrons sick, it would be dealt with immediately, yet we allow toxic smoke in our bars and restaurants every day and somehow that’s “OK.” Well it’s not OK with me.

I fully and unconditionally support any smoking ban that can be established.

Thank you for your time,

Do No Harm

From “The Blood of Eden” by Peter Gabriel:

Is that a dagger or a crucifix I see
You hold so tightly in your hand

Sometimes I think we as Christians should take something akin to the Hippocratic Oath to “Above All, Do No Harm” before venturing out to do ministry.

How many bruised, battered and bleeding have we left behind in our rush to ‘build the Kingdom’ by leaps and bounds instead of one soul at a time?

I know too well the feeling of the dagger in my hand and the blood drawn by my callous words and bitter heart.

And, thankfully, I know all too well the sweet mercy of a loving Savior, whom I’ve abused the most and who yet still loves me.

The Blood of Eden runs through my veins, but I have been washed in the blood of the Lamb. Hallelujah.
