Gotta get me one of these!
GodPod
Just picked up a bunch of mics for a steal on Musician’s Friend (I only needed 2, but they gave me 5. Nice.):
$80 AKG D2300S Hand-Held Dynamic Mic Buy One Get Two Free (for field recording/interviews)
$99 MXL MXL 990/991 Recording Mic Package (for home studio recording, and someday perhaps recording my guitar…)
5 mics for under $200. Amazing.
Add some cables and a pop screen and get free shipping.
Update: Also got a Behringer Eurorack UB802 Mixer to power the condenser mics and monitor what’s going on… when I’m in the home studio (closet).
Been considering some different podcasting ideas lately, have seen two done by others first. You snooze you lose
Not that there isn’t room for multiple podcasts done while driving home from work, or word of the day podcasts, but I wasn;t the first. I’ll just have to live with that.
I’ve got two other ideas I’m hoping to start doing starting in January.
I’m ordering some better mics. My Shure lav mic is great, but can’t beat a standard mic and I don’t need to conceal the mic if you can’t see me
Gives ‘effects wizard’ a whole new meaning!
Really though, the dude’s name is Richard Taylor, but I think he changed his name to keep the paparazzi away
Still taken from a video on the making of the first Narnia film. link
What a great idea. I generate a fair amount of business for the host I’m currently on. If their prices weren’t so high I’d consider switching, but alas $12/month is a bit much in my book (when I can get more for $5/month).
While waiting for the elevator this morning, I noticed the sheet of ice that had formed on everything last night. The tell-tale ‘scratch scratch’ of people chipping away at their ice encrusted wind shields meant winter had finally arrived in Minnesota.
Seeing another gentleman waiting for the elevator, I decided to make small talk. As we entered the elevator, I remarked “Boy, am I glad I’m in the garage today!”
His reply, “I wish I was.” Oops. Hadn’t thought of that eventuality.
